We are looking for an experienced R&D developer to join our team. R&D is the team at Alma Career responsible for innovation and solving complex problems. Our team currently includes 5 data scientists and 4 Python developers. But we’re looking for someone additional — maybe you.How we workOur team develops backend applications based on machine learning. We’re not a code factory — most innovations come directly from our team, and we have enough time to experiment and work on things we consider important. We reserve part of our capacity for refactoring, reducing technical debt, developing new tools, and similar tasks. In addition, every developer has free time to try out new technologies.We operate around six production applications running in several hundred containers and serving millions of users daily. We measure and evaluate application performance, and we’re not afraid to discontinue products that don’t prove successful. Nevertheless, the number of projects continues to grow, and that’s why we’re looking for reinforcements.A few of our biggest products – to give you a better pictureJobmatching
Jobmatching is a service for searching and personalized ranking of job postings. The service is being built as a shared platform for job boards across the Alma Career group. From the beginning, it has been designed as AWS‑native and based on modern technologies.Matěj
Matěj is a recommendation system built on collaborative filtering. It processes millions of user interactions daily and recommends content on our job portals.Sessionlog
Sessionlog collects and processes user interactions across Alma Career products. How do we imagine you?Our products are data‑driven. We have specialists for that — data scientists. You would communicate with them regularly, but your primary role should be that of an experienced programmer.

You’re an experienced backend engineer who knows how to run and maintain production‑grade applications and APIs.
Python is your strong suit — you’ve been working with it for several years and feel fully at home in its ecosystem.
You’ve already designed applications end‑to‑end, including architecture and technology choices — and you can clearly explain why you chose a particular approach.
You learn fast and enjoy exploring new tools, technologies, and approaches.
You’re independent and accountable — you can take ownership of a project and drive it forward without constant supervision.
You’re comfortable working with virtualization and containers, especially Docker and container orchestration tools.
Linux, shell scripting, git and CI/CD are part of your everyday workflow.
Experience with AWS (or another cloud platform) is a great bonus.

What you would work on — improved & more engagingWe are currently expanding our Jobmatching service. At the moment, we’re integrating additional clients and continuously improving personalization and search relevance in close collaboration with our data scientists. We’re also preparing to explore and dive deeper into integrating LLMs.We’re finishing the migration of our remaining products from our datacenters to AWS, but there will definitely be plenty of opportunities to improve and optimize costs further.But that’s not all. We’re constantly launching new projects, so you’ll definitely have additional opportunities to join a project from the very beginning and build something from scratch.Work From Anywhere, Connect in PragueWe have beautiful, brand‑new offices in Prague, where we meet at least a few days each month. We also occasionally gather outside the office for dinners or team‑building events. Otherwise, you can work from almost anywhere you like.Why you will enjoy working with us?
