We partner with our customers and help them meet the latest environmental standards and keep their operations safe and controlled.Popis nabídky práceLocation: We're flexible on location - you can be based in Czechia, Italy, France, or Germany and work closely with colleagues across Europe.John Crane, a global leader with operations in 22 European entities, is seeking an experienced European VAT Specialist to join our in-house finance team.We're looking for someone with solid VAT experience (including audit exposure) who enjoys solving complex VAT challenges, but doesn't necessarily need to be a senior-level manager. You'll work closely with our European finance teams and our Global VAT Director to ensure compliance, support audits, and advise on cross-border VAT matters.What you'll do
- Be the main contact for VAT-related questions from colleagues and advisors
- Monitor changes to VAT legislation across Europe and ensure compliance in all jurisdictions
- Support VAT audits and investigations
- Help maintain and improve VAT processes within ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Collaborate with local finance teams and Shared Service Centres to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Provide VAT advice on cross-border transactions, supply chain changes, and business initiatives
- Assist in VAT training for finance and operational teams
- Degree in finance, accounting, tax, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in European VAT, ideally within a multinational or Big 4 environment.
- Strong knowledge of EU VAT legislation and local rules (Italy, Czechia, Germany, France, Netherlands).
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP an advantage) and VAT reporting tools.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative approach.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
