- Independent performance of specialised research and development work.
- Work within a research team/group.
- Optimisation of procedures and methods of investigation.
- Active publication activity (peer-reviewed journals) and presentation of research results.
- Actively seeking opportunities for research funding and submitting grant applications..
- Supporting students in their scientific training, especially in the form of professional supervision.
- The content of the research activity involves independent and collaborative research within the field of L2/Ln acquisition and learning
- Contribution to sub-group “Input and Frequency Effects in L2 Acquisition” within research consortium “A lifetime with language: the nature and ontogeny of linguistic communication” (CZ.02.01.01/00/23_025/0008726, co-funded by the European Union)
- Development of independent research topic relevant to the sub-group. Themes might include:
- the acquisition of productivity of morphological rules;
- the interaction of linguistic universals and statistical properties of the input in L2/Ln acquisition;
- linguistic transfer and effects of input cues on grammar restructuring in L2/Ln acquisition;
- the acquisition of grammatical variation by multilinguals.
- Ph.D. - Doctoral Degree Programme in Linguistics or Language Acquisition - a condition.
- Research focus on L2 or multilingual acquisition of grammar - a condition.
- Experience in the field is not required.
- A researcher who has obtained their Ph.D. (or equivalent, ISCED level 8) no more than 7 years ago (from the date of dissertation defence). This period may be extended for maternity and parental leave, long-term illness (more than 90 days), care for a family member (more than 90 days), pre-attestation preparation, or military service.
- At least one scholarly publication in the last 3 years listed in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science or Scopus database, and of the type “article,” “book,” “book chapter,” “letter,” or “review” (as of the date of selection). The applicant must be the main author of at least one publication (depending on field-specific standards, this may be the first author, corresponding author, reprint author, or the role may be specified in the article text).
- Ability to conduct independent scientific research.
- Ability to collaborate on complex scientific, research, and development tasks within a research team.
- Ability to apply basic principles of project management.
- Ability to clearly formulate research results.
- Ability to present research results.
- diligence, responsibility, reliability, openness to change, team spirit, patience, consideration, empathy, and friendliness when working and dealing with people & self-reflection.
- A solid linguistic-theoretical background and a willingness to work across theoretical divides in acquisition research (e.g. generative / usage-based).
- Methodological experience and expertise as appropriate for proposed research topic (experimental / language processing / corpus / statistical).
- Experience in research outside the Czech Republic with at least a 0.5 FTE, or Ph.D. studies abroad is an advantage. Czech citizens are not excluded.
